Chef’s Cut Real Jerky and Golf Courses

 

Let’s just start off by saying that I love, no seriously, LOVE jerky.  So when I got a hold of Dennis at Chef’s Cut after trying his and his partner’s jerky, let’s just say that I was one happy Mittengander.  And as it turns out this jerky almost never made it to production!!  How could that be?  We caught up with on of the founders to get the scoop on this awesome brand of jerky.

Tell us a little about yourself and the company you own/run

Chef’s Cut Real Jerky was founded by two guys who grew up caddying together, Dennis and Blair.  Blair grew up making food from scratch with his father.  Smoking Lox, hand grinding meat for burgers and homemade jerky was just another day with Dad.   Fast forward a bit to Dennis and Blair on the golf course years later when Blair would always bring some jerky to snack on when hunger struck the duo on the fairways.  Dennis always said “you need to sell this stuff Blair, it’s phenomenal”.  Blair always replied humbly with differing excuses of time, capital, etc.  Well what a shock when Dennis secretly took some of the jerky out to a golf event at a prestigious golf course and had landed a huge order after the  managers tried it.  Then and there is where CCRJ was born.

What is your location and when did you start/how long has the company been in business

Officially after that initial order in 2009 is when we started CCRJ.  Everything is produced and packaged in Bay City, MI at a USDA facillty.  Were are on the road selling jerky (and golfing) all across the United States, and run most of the logistics remotely.

Whats the best way to enjoy/eat/prepare/utilize your product

Right out of the bag!! But be careful, people seem to always want a piece once you open it up.  Sharing a bag is good, but we prefer to keep a bag to ourselves and have a victory snack after a great shot on the golf course.
