Fresh Water (Not Salt) Taffy is a Huge Hit – Frankenmuth Fudge Kitchen

Being surrounds by water is a big perk in Michigan.  All that water happens to be fresh-water, which regular taffy aficionados would snuff at.  But the candy making expert at Frankenmuth Fudge kitchen paid homage to the Great Lakes by making fresh water taffy.  Frankenmuth Fudge Kitchen is renowned for making fudge, no-brainer there, so we decided to use their taffy for a tasty treat in the Mitten Crate.  We met up with Brandon and chatted about some of the perks of running a candy company.

Tell us a little about yourself and the company you own/run

My name is Brandon Newton and I am the office manager here at The Frankenmuth Fudge Kitchen. We are a small candy shop in a wonderful German tourist town called Frankenmuth.

What is your location and when did you start/how long has the company been in business

We are located at 606 South Main Street, right in the heart of Frankenmuth, Michigan. We have been in business since 1964, so this is actually our 50th year in business!

What makes your products special/unique

We make all of our delicious candy right in the store for everyone to see. We put our focus on the experience we can give our customers. In today’s day and age there aren’t too many things that are handmade anymore, so it really is a unique experience.

What’s the favorite part about your job

My favorite thing about my job has to be the interaction with customers. In Frankenmuth you get such a diverse group of people and it is really interesting to hear all of their stories.

Where can we buy more of your products

You can come to our store front, call us at 877-25FUDGE, or visit us at www.frankenmuthfudge.com

Whats the best way to enjoy/eat/prepare/utilize your product

Well I believe anytime is a good time for Fudge! Since it is so rich, I would recommend keeping it wrapped up on your counter and snacking on it throughout the day. You can also freeze fudge from 6 months to a year, as long as you wrap it up air tight.
