Johnny Secreto – ‘Old World Pasta Sauce’

Johnny Secreto’s founder – John Coram –  is one of the busiest people in the Michigan food scene.  He works so hard we swear he’s always in two places at the same time.  We were able to hold him down just long enough to answer a few questions about the company that produces your new go-to pasta sauce.

Tell us a little about yourself and the company you own/run

My name is John Coram and I have spent most of my professional career in sales and marketing.  Four years ago I lost my job and had to reinvent myself at age 50.  I was making Pasta sauces, BBQ sauces and spice blends and just giving them away for gifts.  My wife is the person that inspired and convinced me to look at producing the product line for resale.

What is your location and when did you start/how long has the company been in business

The company is located in Rockford. We introduced the product line in May of 2012. When we introduced the products we worked 10 to 14 farmers markets per week.

What makes your products special/unique

All of are products have clean simple labels and are free of additives or preservatives. Our pasta sauce is very unique, we use Merlot wine and non-GMO cane sugar. The pasta sauce has an old world flavor.  Chunks of tomatoes, garlic and herb flavor. The sodium content is very low.

What’s the favorite part about your job I

love working with the end consumer to see how much they enjoy our products.

Where can we buy more of your products

We are presently in 125 retail store across the state. In the metro Detroit area you can purchase the products at Westborn markets (Dearborn, Livionia, Berkley), Joe’s Produce in Livonia, VG’s (Fenton, Brighton and Howell), Lansing’s Horrocks and in Grand Rapids all the D&W locations.
