Meet The Beekeeper- Michigan’s Finest Honey

MC: Tell us a little about yourself and the company you own/run.

MFH: Hello my name is Carl. I’m co-owner and the head beekeeper for Michigan’s Finest Honey. This is where my story begins…

I am the father of five girls. We have always been active, enjoying outdoor hobbies. Many of these hobbies have become life lessons for my daughters.

As children, they helped plant and harvest our summer garden. They also helped me raise small birds and animals such as peacocks, pheasant, chickens, and bunnies. They learned about the miracle of life and the pride of growing food from seeds, while at the same time developing an appreciation for nature and their environment.

As the girls became older, they began to develop their own interests.

A bout three years ago, my oldest daughter, Antoinette, suggested the idea of raising bees. She had read a lot about beekeeping and was looking into starting a hive of her own.

To tell you the truth, I had never thought much about bee keeping before. It was then, that my beekeeping journey began. I started doing some research of my own and met with other local beekeepers to learn the art of apiculture.

It amazes me that our bees can produce such pure honey. Like most beginnings, Michigan’s Finest Honey started small. We first started out with just a couple of hives. Many hives later, this hobby not only became my passion, but my family’s passion as well.

We are passionate about sharing the world of bees with others and introducing new honeybee products to the community. Together, we are raising our bees, harvesting the honey, and committed to growing our business.

MC: What makes your products special/unique?

MFH: Michigan’s Finest Honey is committed to harvesting the finest quality honey, while respecting the bees, the environment, and the people who consume it.

The busy bees of Michigan provide us with this natural honey. Our honey is completely raw. The only step between the hive and the jar is a strain, so it still contains beneficial pollen and wax.

We use no pesticides or chemicals for beekeeping. Instead, we use natural ways to avoid threats to our bees.

Artisanally packaged, we label each jar by hand.

MC: What’s your favorite part about your job?

MFH: The best part of my job is that my work with bees will impact communities far beyond our hives. I am proud to say I am a beekeeper!

MC: Where can we buy more of your products?

MFH: All of our honey products can be purchased on our website at For a list of where to buy our honey products, please check out the store listing.

MC: What’s the best way to enjoy/eat/prepare/utilize your product?

MFH: There’s no wrong way to enjoy honey! Our honey is prefect to have in your home. It can be used with tea, drizzled on foods, used as a sugar substitute while cooking, and so much more. Honey is definitely better than using refined sugars and artificial sweeteners. It is also has many health benefits. For those of you who like it HOT, be sure to try our Sweet N’ Spicy honey – it’s infused with chili peppers – this condiment is great for adding flavor to your favorite dish.
