Raising The Bar With ERG!

MC: Tell us a little about yourself and the company you own/run.

ERG: One evening Dennis bought some ingredients at Meijer to make some energy bars. On a group bike ride the following morning, someone said “Hey this is pretty good, you ought to sell ’em.” ERG! Foods is now a family-owned company and now we’re making 9 more flavors in addition to that original Cashew Raisin. So there ya go.

MC: What is your location and when did you start/how long has the company been in business?

ERG: One of our original goals from the beginning in 2012 was to make this product right here in Traverse City, Michigan and to create some jobs,. We’re hoping to add our first two, fulltime positions in March 2015.

MC: What makes your products special/unique?

ERG: REAL … Every ERG! Bar starts with 25% real fruit Real apples, real cherries, real dates… real blueberries, lemons, apricots and more. We grind or own nut butters fresh for every batch. We grind real almonds, real cashews, and real peanuts. They’re naturally sweetened with honey and real fruit. ERG! Fruit & Nut Bars actually taste good. Why should that be a big surprise?

MC: What’s your favorite part about your job?

ERG: Katy and I developed the flavors, the process, the name … we tinkered and we tinkered some more …. and we really love hearing from people, like you, who like our bars.

MC: Where can we buy more of your products?

ERG: ERG! Fruit & Nut Bars are in about a hundred stores (mostly in Michigan), but you can also buy them direct from us at our website. And all orders over $25 ship free. www.ergbar.com

MC: What’s the best way to enjoy/eat/prepare/utilize your product?

ERG: ERG! Bars are a raw, coldpressed, caloriedense fuel for active people. Lucy Bartholmew uses them as fuel on 50 mile trail races in Australia, but we hear from people all the time who carry them on international flights, pop them into school or work lunch bags, or just use them as a healthy afternoon snack at work. ERG! Bars are real fruit that you can carry in your pocket.

If you are vacationing or visiting Traverse City, give us a call or stop by our facility on Garfield Road.
